I’ve been contemplating which tattoo I’m going to get before the summer ends and have it narrowed down to a couple of choices, two of which I have rough versions of displayed.

The first one, “E pur si muove!”, is an homage to one of my favorite astronomers… Galileo Galilee. The words in Latin translate to, “And yet it moves!”, which Galileo is reported to have said after being forced to recant his heliocentric model by the Catholic church. The symbol next to it is the astronomical sign for Earth, included for obvious reasons. The reasoning for having this inked on my body is to serve as a constant reminder that we must never lose sight of the truth, regardless of oppression from anyone who disagrees with it… as despite their opposition, it still remains the truth.

The second is a scatter plot of the Hertzsprung-Russell diagram, with “Per astra ad aspera” overlaying it. Latin for, “Through hardships to the stars,” per astra ad aspera. Not as much thought went into this one, besides the fact that this phrase really inspires me and that I like stars/H-R diagrams… hahaha.

Like I said, really shitty conceptual versions of them, but hopefully whatever I decide to get turns out awesome.

Also, they’re good motivation to get into better shape.
